AIART conference on Media and Minors

“EAVI took part in the conference hold by AIART in Matera, Italy on the 23rd and 24th of November. The topic of the event was the relation between families and their use of media and in particular the protection and education of minors in relation to television and new media. The aims of the conference were namely, developing critical thinking about the new communication models offered by the TV, promote responsible use of media, fill the communication gap between children and parents and raise the awareness of local media education activities. Paolo Celot, EAVI Secretary General, underlined the pros and cons of the frequent use of mobile devices, apps and the internet and how this is affecting young generations’ way of communicating and behaving in society. Celot will also participate at the GMK congress (Gesellschaft für Medienpädagogik und Kommunikationskultur in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland e.V.). The subject of the event is “Media Literacy in Europe: History, Prospects and Collaborations” and will be held in Germany by GMK, the Professional Association for Media Education, a non for profit organisation that operates in the media literacy sector. http://www.eavi.eu/
